چکیده

Coring is considered to provide the best estimate of concrete compressive strength in existing structures and commonly used calibrate Non-Destructive Moderately Destructive Techniques. Historical concrete, produced pre-code period until ‘20s, significantly differs from modern due lack standardization, improper rules thumbs aggregate shape (round, smooth often excessively large aggregates) proportioning. Therefore, applicability procedures calibrated on a historical one, also coring, an issue that needs be discussed. In this paper, experimental campaign historical-like i.e. with same defects as aims at identifying reliability drilled cores effect round aggregates. The results show standard cannot directly applied concrete: suffer scale effects (core diameter) cutting damage material much more than concrete. detail, core-to-cubic ratio, codes assume range 0.70-0.85, dimension aggregates found inside larger range, 0.70-1.00, and, opposed decreasing increases. Besides, diameter core have relevant pointing out affects for This latter result, which further research, points concretes may rather different ones probably need are

Strength of Fine Concrete Used in Textile Reinforced Concrete by Changing Water-Binder Ratio

Recently, the abnormal climate phenomenon has enlarged due to the global warming. As a result, temperature variation is increasing and the term is being prolonged, frequency of high and low temperature is increasing by heat wave and severe cold. Especially for reinforced concrete structure, the corrosion of reinforcement has occurred by concrete crack due to temperature change and the durabilit...

A Study on Behaviour of Normal Strength Concrete and High Strength Concrete Subjected to Elevated Temperatures

Cement concrete is a complex mixture of different materials. Behaviour of concrete depends on its mix proportions and constituents when it is subjected to elevated temperatures. Principal effects due to elevated temperatures are loss in compressive strength, loss in weight or mass, change in colour and spall of concrete. The experimental results of normal concrete and high strength concrete sub...

Genetic Programming Based Formulation to Predict Compressive Strength of High Strength Concrete

This study introduces, two models based on Gene Expression Programming (GEP) to predict compressive strength of high strength concrete (HSC). Composition of HSC was assumed simplified, as a mixture of six components (cement, silica fume, super-plastisizer, water, fine aggregate and coarse aggregate). The 28-day compressive strength value was considered the target of the prediction.  Data on 159...

Performance of High-strength Concrete

This research was undertaken to investigate performance of high-strength concrete incorporating mineral admixtures, fly ash and silica fume. For modern construction, the use of new construction materials is increasing to achieve economy and improved final results. An extensive literature search was carried out to review various engineering properties of high-strength concrete. In this study, th...

Acceptance of Concrete Compressive Strength

The new concrete standards give directives regarding the checking if the hardened concrete conforms to the compressive strength requirements of the designed compressive strength class. The acceptance or rejection of conformity is the function of the compressive strength testing methods and the evaluation of the test results. In the paper through examples we show the role of the acceptance proba...
